Compelling Copy is changing (here’s what to expect now)

Hello. This post is to let you know that Compelling Copy is changing.

Not because it isn’t working as it is. Nor because I’m pivoting to AI or chasing a new shiny thing. And it’s not because I’ve fallen out of love with copywriting. (I haven’t, but I’ll admit, we’ve needed a little time apart over the past little while.)

Compelling Copy is changing because, after reassessing how I want this work to continue, it’s become clear I want to help people in a different way.

If you’re a small service-based business owner trying to write your own website copy, this change is for you. Everything that is coming here will help you write your website words with clarity, confidence and structure.

‘If you’re a small service-based business owner trying to write your own website copy, this change is for you.’

What Compelling Copy used to be

For more than a decade, Compelling Copy delivered done-for-you services. I offered website copywriting, messaging strategy, content strategy, keyword research, website reviews and more.

That work has been genuinely rewarding. I’ve helped lots of businesses and organisations clarify what they do, who they do it for and how to explain it in a way that makes sense to their customers.

But when you’re delivering done-for-you services, there’s always a limit. I could only help so many clients at a time. All while seeing many small business websites struggling with the same problems I was only able to help a relatively small few solve.

The problem I see over and over

As a consumer and a copywriter, I see many small business websites doing a not very good job at promoting their business (in some cases, actively turning customers away).

But most small business websites don’t fail because the business owner isn’t any good at delivering the service they provide.

They fail because their website’s:

  • message is unclear

  • structure is confusing

  • words are doing too much (or too little).

In most cases, the business owner has no idea where to start to fix it. But hiring a copywriter isn’t always realistic, and going it alone feels overwhelming.

Filling the gap between ‘I can’t afford to pay a copywriter’ and ‘I have no idea what to write’ is where my work at Compelling Copy is focusing now.

What Compelling Copy is becoming

Compelling Copy is evolving into a website copy resource hub for small service-based business owners.

This means:

  • informative and useful blog posts and articles

  • practical, step-by-step systems

  • guidance that helps you think clearly before writing a single word.

It’s not a membership or course. Nor will you learn how to become a freelance copywriter.

My goal here is simple: to help more small service-based business owners write better websites so their customers can choose them with confidence.

Think less marketing theory and more practical guidance on how to do this properly.

What this means for you

If you’re here because you want:

  • a clearer website

  • words that make sense to real customers

  • a structure that works, not trends or hype

  • help without pressure or heavy upsells.

You’re in the right place.

Over time, the Compelling Copy blog will grow with content designed to help you do the work, not just read about it and get confused about how to implement it.

I’m also developing a simple system for writing clear, effective website copy for small service-based businesses. The system is not about buzzwords or teaching you in-depth copywriting theory. Just clarity, structure and guidance that respects your time and your needs.

‘Over time, the Compelling Copy blog will grow with content designed to help you do the work, not just read about it.’

If you’re here because you’re a former client or new customer seeking done-for-you services. I’m sorry, those services are not currently part of my offering. I’m not saying they won’t be again one day, but for now, I’m focused on distilling my years of website knowledge and experience into useful ways to help people who can’t hire someone to write their copy for them.

(If you are looking to engage a copywriter and you’re struggling to find someone to work with, feel free to get in touch. I know loads of awesome content people I can recommend.)

An important note

While I know the work I’m doing here will be insightful, actionable and beneficial, I can’t promise instant website success.

What I do promise is to help you with:

  • clearer thinking

  • better decisions

  • stronger foundations

  • writing website words that make sense to your customers.

That alone will put you ahead of most other small business owners whose websites lack clarity, structure and customer-focused messaging.

Because a website that doesn’t make sense, doesn’t make money.

This post sets the context for everything that comes next here at Compelling Copy.
